My work at CRICS (the international school) has always been interesting and varied. Projects always popup that require my attention but they’re always something different.
This past school year we came to the realization that as a school we produce quite a lot of e-waste, old electronics that we as a school can no longer reliably use but could still work well enough for others. So we started to look for opportunities to loan or donate these resources to organizations in our community. Pretty soon we got a request from a group working in Myanmar for a set of computers to be used by students at a severely underfunded school there. Of course we said yes and have started the process of sending these off to Myanmar where these older computers will hopefully be a blessing to many students.
Another opportunity came along in the form of a fledgling homeschool co-op here in Chiang Rai. This opportunity was most interesting to us as CRICS started out as a homeschool co-op many years ago and we love supporting our ever growing community as CRICS seeks to Serve the Servant. So as of this past school year we have an agreement with this new homeschool co-op to supply them with our older computers as they find their footing and grow.
